First Set Day @ Just B Hair Salon

Going from 0 clients to 3 clients in my first month was not what I was expecting at all! I am so grateful for all of the love and praise that I have received after starting my own production company. Be sure to check out Just B Hair Salon in Buckhead or Duluth if you are ever looking to get your hair done. They can do it all! Check them out at @justbhairatl on Instagram to book!

Here are a few tips that I practice whenever I am going to set for the first day:

  • Arrive Early: Punctuality is crucial in the film industry. Arrive at least 15-30 minutes early to ensure you have time to prepare and get settled.

  • Meet the Team: Introduce yourself to the crew members, including the director, producer, camera operators, and fellow videographers. Building rapport and networking is essential in this industry.

  • Set Up Your Equipment: Find a designated area to set up your gear. Ensure your camera settings are correct, and that your equipment is properly secured and balanced.

  • Communication: Familiarize yourself with the communication channels on set. This may include walkie-talkies, headsets, or other methods for staying in touch with the crew.

  • Dress Appropriately: Wear comfortable clothing suitable for the shooting conditions. It's often a good idea to dress in dark, non-reflective clothing to avoid being visible in reflections.

  • Thank the Team: Express gratitude to the production team for the opportunity and your fellow crew members for their guidance and support.

Remember that your first day on a videography set is a learning experience. Stay open to feedback and continually improve your skills. Over time, you'll become more confident and proficient in your role on set.
